Chapter by Chapter Bible Study
I’m always looking for more efficient ways to study my Bible. I’m not real crazy about reading many chapters at once. I prefer to have a chapter by chapter Bible study so I can absorb what I’ve read.
So instead of reading each chapter through once, I began reading them three times and at the end of each reading, I wrote about what I learned in my journal. You’d think there wouldn’t be much to learn after reading it the first time, but I have been amazed at what I miss through the first reading. It can be quite funny, actually. You think you’ve read every word and then through the second and third readings there’s a “I can’t believe I missed that!” moment!
It truly is a rewarding way to read. And if you haven’t begun journaling your thoughts, this is a great time to start. There really is no right or wrong way to do it. If you want to make it even more interesting and fun, use a different colored pen each time you write!
It’ll be interesting to see as time moves on not only how much I’ve grown in the Spirit, but also how much I’ve grown in this journaling venture.
What is your favorite Bible study method? Do you journal? Please share how you do it!

Coincidentally, my post tomorrow is all about how I plan to read through the whole Bible! It’s part of my Lenten discipline, but will last much longer than that, I’m sure, as this journey will take some time. Hope you’ll visit, Jennifer!
Blessings!
It’s interesting how God works! I think he’s trying to drive home the importance of Bible study.
By the way, I just stopped by your blog and loved the post!
I definitely find that anytime I read the Bible I learn something new…So I can completely understand and think that’s great, you’re reading each chapter three times! You must be getting a lot out of it.
When I’ve studied and read the Bible I’d take sections and read and study them at one time. Like the gospels and then perhaps taking some time to read through the psalms, or proverbs and then the first five chapters of the OT, etc. Of course not in one day! Something like Scripture needs to be taken in slowly, digested…the sweet nourishment it offers savored.
I welcome you to read my latest post if you get a chance. I’d love your thoughts if you get the chance.

My Bible studies always seem to follow my needs for that particular day. I usually have 2 or 3 different Books of the Bible that I’m studying at any one time. I really like the idea of journaling though. What a brilliant way to keep our thoughts and feelings down about what we are studying. I believe it would become really interesting to go back a year later and read what we have written and see if our views have changed any.
Thank you for sharing!
